Simple Website Design – Is Yours?

A simple website design, focuses on your visitors. Your visitors experience navigation through your website should be a pleasant one not a headache for them.

Is your website easy to follow?
Is your navigation bar easy to understand?
Are your graphics in the right place and not distracting your visitors from doing what you want them to do?
Is your sign up or buy now buttons in obvious places with the right call to action?

You might be surprised at how many sites I visit and leave quickly just because the site has way too many pictures on it, I can’t find what I want easily. I have no idea what I am suppose to do.

Take a good look at your website, is it simple to know exactly what to do and how to do it?

Some basics points to look for:

Content: Your content should read easy for your visitor. You should always use a white background with black text. Don’t make your text fancy with Italics and colors, this makes it difficult not only to read, but it hurts your visitors eyes.

Navigation: Your navigation bar should use words that make sense as to what is on that page. Be sure you are using words that make sense to your visitor, not you!

Graphics: You need to keep pictures down to a minimal, (unless your site is all about selling products), lots of pictures on a website might look nice, but this also can distract your visitors from reading or doing what it is they came to your website to do.

Sign Up Form: Your sign up form and even your buy now buttons need to be placed in appropreicate places. Don’t hide these! Have them above the fold of your website. When someone comes to your website, you want your sign up form to be visible right a way, so that your visitor does not have to scroll down your website to find them.

Call to Action: Make sure it is very clear what it is your visitor is to do. If necessary write out exactly how and what you want your visitor to, Sign Up Here, Buy Now, Join Us, don’t leave it up to the visitor to decide if this is what they are suppose to do, make it very, very clear!

By keeping your website design simple will benefit not only you but more importantly your visitors. They will remember your website as being easy to follow and understand return often and recommend your website to others.
